Facing the obvious…

on November 11, 2016

In spite of my very concise report on it, people keep asking me “How did this happen?”.  So here’s another little nugget for you.  Read it and weep.

Click it to see it better

This is how American citizens voted, county-by-county throughout the country.  What do you see?  Blue never had a chance.  Red is what the vast majority of the country wanted.  Not the vast majority of Americans, but then, we don’t live in a democracy.  We live in a Republic so our president is chosen based on what the majority of the country wants.   So look at how much of the country voted red and how much voted blue.

Of course, what people wanted wasn’t Trump exactly, but they wanted change.  And he was the only change on the ballot, so he was what we got.

This is what having only two viable but opposite parties to choose from has given us.  You now have four years to fix the problem if you don’t want it to happen again.  So — exactly what do you plan to do?  Besides complain, I mean…

Aside from voter apathy, much of the problem is the Electoral College, gerrymandering, and the fact that states get two Senators (and thus two extra Electoral College votes) no matter what their population is.
Yes, that map looks bad. But leaving aside the South, which has traditionally been conservative, many of the “red states,” particularly in the West, have undue influence, but not that many people. Cows don’t vote.

Interesting map….and LOL…cows don’t vote…you sure they didn’t this election? Mr. Brahma…how do you vote? Moooooootrump.

Small comfort that my county went blue and so did my state (Colorado).
