The story of the Taliban shooting down Malala Yousofzai drives me crazy. Apparently nothing scares a religious zealot quite like a little girl going to school. I have no doubt that American right-wing citizens would be perfectly willing to do this to our own children if they fail in their current agenda to control every aspect of women’s lives, and that disturbs me even more. For some reason, religious (i.e., ignorant) males find the idea of females actually learning that they aren’t second-class human beings who need big strong men to make all the decisions for them, so frightening that they’ll do anything to keep it from happening.
And they must be right — after all, they have a fictional book that says so…somewhere…maybe…
