Politicians Are Poody Heads

and they're not alone…

Goodbye…

on August 24, 2012

Jerry Nelson, voice and handler for some of my favorite Muppets, has gone to that great Muppet Show in the sky.  He was 78 and had been battling cancer a long time.  Jerry started with Jim Henson back in the “Jimmy Dean Show” days (he helped manipulate Rowlf the dog), and went on to work with Jim on “Sesame Street” and the “Muppet Show”.  He provided the life force for some of my favorite Muppets.  As a fellow puppeteer, I’ll miss his talent, but as a Muppet fan, I’ll miss his heart.

Goodbye Jerry.  I hope you keep ‘em laughing, wherever on the stairs you wind up…

(sigh)

JB, which Muppets voices did Mr. Nelson do?

He did a lot of the “minor” characters, plus Gobo Fraggle, Pa Gorg, Marjory the Trash Heap, Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Robin, Harry, the Count, the Amazing Mumford, the Announcer, Lew Zealand, Mr. Johnson (the guy Grover is always waiting on), and Pops the doorman.

Whenever there was singing to be done, he was usually there. Robin’s song, from A A Milne, was always one of my favorites so I’ve added it to the post for other folks to enjoy.
