I’ve always marveled that Palin ever got elected as a mayor to begin with. Finally, I think I’ve figured it out, thanks to the story of Stubbs, mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska for 15 years…
As the story goes, 15 years ago several of the town residents didn’t like the candidates who were running for mayor of Talkeetna, so as a joke, they encouraged enough people to elect Stubbs the cat as a write-in candidate, and he actually won.
This explains everything except why anyone outside of Alaska ever took her seriously…
